A lovely holiday exploring Devon, the cottage was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay Thank you very much
A lovely cottage in an idyllic setting, surrounded by gardens which contained beautiful flowers and providing a haven for numerous birds We have thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from our We visited Tavistock and Chagford and walked on the moors ending up at the peter tavy inn where we had an excellent meal
This was the best stay of our holiday in England! Elaine and Robert are a lovely couple and gave us much information about the area. There is a lot to do in Dartmoor! The house itself is really cozy and comfortable, the beds are very good and the kitchen is well equipped. And even when the weather was bad we felt at home in the large living room!
Loved it. Hoping to go back to same cottage next year
Absolutely lovely cottage with everything that you would need for a perfect break. Fantastic walks and the owners are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely rebook.. 10/10 all round. Bring binoculars as the views are beautiful… The cake on arrival was very well received and homemade by the owner. Lovely
A lovely cottage. It is in a great location with lots to do and see nearby. Thank you to the owners for giving us such a warm welcome.
The cottage was in easy reach of all the places we wanted to visit and was comfortable and clean. The garden was easily accessible and sheltered and was kitted out with a table and benches. We would love to have spent more than a week at the cottage.
Lovely cosy cottage with plenty of walks/hikes straight from the door. Pub within a very easy walk if you’re used to walking. Peter Tavy pub excellent. Location great for walking & also sightseeing as Plymouth only a short drive. Only real downside was not being able to control heating from the cottage. Owner very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Love the upside down cottage having lounge upstairs. There is an electric heater which you can control in this room. Cottage very warm only really needed heating due to taking elderly mother with us who feels the cold. Owner happily kept adjusting heating for us. Happily return & recommend. Overall great stay
It is a lovely cottage, and is only a short walk up a near by bridle path, up onto the open moor. The cottage is very comfortable and had everything you would need there. The owners were very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble during our stay there. The pub in Peter Tavy does some lovely food and Tavistock is a lovely town, which again, is just a short drive from the cottage. We would certainly go back again
Brilliant place to stay nice and quiet owners are brilliant as well
This is our second visit to Moorview and we've loved it there both times. The hosts are great and very welcoming and a wealth of information regarding the local area. The cottage is lovely and quite spacious, with everything you'd need there. Plus it's just a short walk from there onto Dartmoor itself. There is a good pub in the village and Tavistock is a lovely little town to visit and has some good shops. You won't be disappointed.
We love Moorview and its location The cottage has met and exceeded all our needs. We have enjoyed walking in the local area and even the weather have been kind to us. We hope to return soon to this wonderful place PS thank you for the carrot cake - delicious

A lovely cottage in a peaceful and very relaxing location. The walking in the local area meant that we would leave the car at home (Moorview Cottage) but still have wonderful walks and beautiful views. Loved the cake on arrival and Trevor loved the Jail Ale at the Peter Tavy Inn
A lovely stay in a lovely cottage, enjoyed the walking and cycling and also the train trip from Okehampton to Exeter
What a lovely place to come and stay to recharge the batteries, the cottage was warm, toasty and spacious, we loved the piece and quiet and also the stunning views from the upstairs window/door. It is such a great place to be based for walking, cycling and sightseeing, whilst we were here we visited Tavistock, Morwellham Quay, Widecombe in the Moor, Lydford Gorge, Buckfast Abbey, Totnes, Cotehele to name but a few The Peter Tavy Inn is a great pub which serves great food and drink and its an easy walk away, what more could we ask Thank you for the lovely cake which was waiting for us when arrived We really enjoyed reading your blogs on the website before we came to visit, I just wish there were more of them
Just a quick note to say thanks for a lovely week at Moorview last week, we had a great time and can't wait to come back again next year Thank You
We absolutely loved the cottage it was so comfy and the best we’ve stayed in thank you. Also thank you for the cake, tea and coffee and milk that were most welcome
Just to say a big thank you, especially for the beautiful flowers and the cake! We had a great stay, and look forward to staying again.
We wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay with you. Moorview is a wonderful cottage in a stunning location. The cottage was lovely and clean, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. Especially the sofas! Also, we appreciated the local knowledge which you, and Robert, shared with us. Although we had done some research in the area it was great to chat to you both to make the most of the places we visited. A fantastic cottage, in a perfect location with wonderful hosts. Thank you so much.
Cycle ride along granite way was a fun day out. We did Yes Tor and High Will Hayes We are off to Postbridge today We have had a lovely stay on dartmoor. Thanks for a welcoming cottage and the cake was a real treat.
Warm and cosy cottage offering great views of Dartmoor, refreshing moorland walks finished off with a drink and lovely food at the local pub with the open fire roaring in the background. We will definitely be back again next year
what more could we ask, great place to get away from all the stresses of life in the fast lane
Great cottage, great location what more can we say Thank you, we will be back again soon
Perfect cottage, location, walks, moors and streams, great pubs and brilliant hosts. Just what an amazing week! The photos really don’t do this beautiful, warm and welcoming cottage justice. It far exceeded our expectations. The property was thoroughly cleaned and spotless; we felt very safe. Moorview is a perfect location for a peaceful holiday, with stunning views, whatever the weather. Being an upside down house, there are views right across the valley. At night it is perfectly dark, and you can see so many stars while the owl hoot in the distance. We really enjoyed being able to leave the car secure at the cottage whilst we set off on adventurous walks over the moors and wanders along pretty streams, returning in time to go to the Peter Tavy pub for dinner! (Yummy) There is a wide variety of things to do and see within a short drive. Make sure you visit the independent shops in the friendly town of Tavistock. The week provided all the rest and recuperation we needed. Thank you so much to our amazing hosts, Elaine, Robert and of course Pebbles for making such a relaxing holiday possible. We’ve already booked our return next year.
Lovely cosy cottage, there were just the two of us but we don't like to be cramped so we opted for a larger cottage than we needed. we weren't sure if it would be too big for us but thought we would take a chance, we shouldn't have worried, we just used the first bedroom and closed the door to the others and it was perfect just what we had hoped for Lovely cosy evenings curled up with a glass of wine we were very comfortable The garden although offered outside space to enjoy the evening sunshine and the pub up the road was a great excuse not to cook. The local area was lovely we took a few strolls up the quiet country lanes after a day out sightseeing just to get a bit of exercise, lovely views and some spectacular sunsets, we would certainly return, Thank you
Weather not great but despite that we had a good holiday, we brought our waterproof's and sensible boots and we were off, walking over the moors, browsing the shops in Tavistock. Lots to see and do even with Covid restrictions, My Tip, just remember to book things in advance
GREAT GREAT GREAT What a little gem great cottage great views great for cycling and walking and a pub just up the road what more could we ask
Lovely clean cottage great views over Dartmoor, walks from the door, our dog loved it Pub just a little walk up the road, great food and beer so much to see and do, we will certainly be back again soon
What a lovely place to come and stay to recharge our batteries, piece and quiet, lovely views, great place for walking and cycling, warm and toasty cottage to come back to in the evenings, great pub serving great food and drink nearby, a welcome cake on arrival, what more could we ask We also enjoyed reading Elaine's Blog on her website
Lovely spacious cottage looks of lovely views from the lounge windows plenty of comfortable seating and separate dining area which is great and good for playing board games. There is a small area of garden which is especially for guests, there is a bench and a picnic table which can be used, there is no bbq and ball games are not allowed due to the neighbours and the greenhouse, we spent many evenings in the garden with a glass of wine and nibbles just enjoying the peace and quiet. Elaine obviously enjoys gardening and seemed to spend hours each day looking after her lovely garden which has lots of lovely plants, very much a cottage garden feel to it The local pub the Peter Tavy Inn is just a short stroll away and is well worth a visit. There are lots of takeaway places in Tavistock, personally we enjoyed fish & chips and also a Chinese meal from the Birds Nest and an Indian meal from the Ganges. Thanks again for a great stay we will be back
Thank you so much, your friendly welcome and the cake, a great start to our holiday. We went to Tavistock a couple of times and each time we went the Paneer market offered something different to look at. Dartmoor National Park is a beautiful place to walk, it is also worth just taking a drive if you want to get back to nature and watch all the wild birds and animals, the sheep cattle and ponies are a joy to watch, the visitor centre at Princetown is also worth a visit as it the Dartmoor Prison Museum. There is a swimming pool in Tavistock for the children to go to together with a lovely park with ducks to feed, there is a river on one side and a canal on the other, both of which are lovely to walk by. There is also a place called the Wharf which has a cafe, live acts and sometimes doubles up as a cinema too. Great cafes and restaurants to visit in and around Tavistock also some good pubs offering good food Thanks again
Thank you for the lovely cake. We have enjoyed staying here and we have visited so many places including Tavistock, Morwellham Quay, Widecombe in the Moor, Lydford Gorge, Buckfast Abbey, Totnes, Cotehele. Also lots of walking on Dartmoor
We spent a wonderful time at Dartmoor National Park and at Moorview Cottage, the weather was mostly good, only a little rain, mainly overnight

What a great base to explore Devon and Cornwall, spoilt for choice. We had arrived early on the Saturday morning so visited Tavistock where we found the local farmers market before arriving at the cottage, lovely bread, meat and cheese. Plymouth, Bude, Clovelly, Lydford Gorge, Eden Project were just some of the places we visited, we even managed to fit in some evening walks over the moors. We have already booked to come again next year as we couldn't fit everything in. Thank you to Pebbles and Ginger Puss for being so entertaining
A fantastic week, thank you. This was our first visit to Devon and we feel we picked the perfect spot to enjoy it. Amazing walks right from the cottage We recommend the "Three Pub Crawl" Elephants Nest, the Mary Tavy Inn and then onto the Peter Tavy Inn- the food is amazing. I just wanted to drop you a short line to thank you for a wonderful week. I thoroughly enjoyed myself (in case you didn't notice!) You own a lovely property in a lovely peaceful spot with excellent riding close by. The cottage really did give the feeling of a "home from home" and I was most reluctant to return to London at the end of our stay.
I am sorry i didnt get time to write in your book so I thought I would write to you instead, we just wanted to say thank you so much for yet another lovely holiday staying at Moorview, we will certainly be back again and have started handing out the recommendations already
Beautiful conversion, spacious and spotless, wonderful countryside, we even had great weather. I think we will come in April next year as is such a lovely time with all the spring flowers.
